Travel Information for Strawberry Fair
Midsummer Common hosts Strawberry Fair each year. The Common is easily accessible by road (Victoria Avenue and Maids Causeway) and a footpath that runs alongside the River Cam.
We recommend that you either walk or bike to Strawberry Fair as the roads tend to get very busy. Buses can be taken from the railway station to the Common.
Don't drive! We have only very limited parking for disabled visitors and that's it. Use Park and Ride if visiting from outside Cambridge.
Directions
By land: Midsummer Common is inside the center of Cambridge, bounded by Elizabeth Way (A1134) to the East, Chesterton Road (A1303) to the North, Victoria Avenue to the West and Newmarket Road to the South.
You can see a road map by clicking here.
By river: Midsummer Common is located on the bank of the River Cam, a mile from Cambridge City center on the northern (Ely) side. Mooring on the river is controlled by the council who charge a fee for people to moor up alongside of the common. Call 01223 457532 for more info.
There are a handful of free mooring spaces on the Ely side of Midsummer Common, but these are often busy all year round, so it's not guaranteed you'll get a place.
When you get there
If you would like a map of the site, you will need to buy a programme on the day. You can get these from either of two Info Stands, one of which is by the Four Lamps, where the footpaths meet, near Maids Causeway. The other is by the Green Area, not far from the Fort St. George public house.
