The Committee Behind Strawberry Fair
Strawberry Fair is run by a committee of volunteers. There are four elected posts and a number of sub-committee Chairs. Elections take place each year at an AGM during which each committee member votes for the person they would like to take up each elected post and act as sub-committee Chair.
In 2008 the following people hold positions to note:
Committee Chair (Justin Argent)
It is the role of the Committee Chair to oversee preparations for the event, activities on the day, and the clear up operation afterwards. The Chair works closely with external organisations on a range of issues with a view to representing the committee. A major part of the post is also to Chair the numerous General Meetings held throughout the year.
Committee Vice-Chair (Mike Wilson)
The Vice Chair shadows the Committee Chair, leading General Meetings in the Chair's absence and supporting the Chair's work.
Secretary (Drew Park)
The key role of the Secretary is informing committee members about forthcoming meetings, minuting these meetings, and facilitating communication within the committee.
Treasurer (Jane Wilson)
Manages the Fair's finances, working closely with key committee members to ensure budgets are adhered to. Also Chairs the Finance and Administration sub-committee.
Chair of Production (Martin Twiss)
Production is a new sub-committee set up this year, it deals with all the aspects of the Fair that are not site or music related. This includes administration, stalls, finance, publicity and a whole host of other bits.
Chair of Infrastructure (Richard Brown)
The Infrastructure sub-committee deals with site issues such as the site map, ordering site kit, and organising the build up and take down of infrastructure when the event takes place.
Chair of Programming (Nick Townsend)
Oversees the programming sub-committee which consists of all the area co-ordinators. It is this group that makes decisions about the programming and entertainment of the stages and Fair generally.
