About Strawberry Fair
Strawberry Fair is a free performing arts fair that takes place every year in the first week of June.
Obviously we can't go into too many details (that would spoil the surprise) however turn up on Midsummer Common on the first Saturday in June and you'll be met by:
A kids entertainments area - containing, amongst other things, a circus big top, face painting, story telling, a bouncy castle, and plenty of opportunities for fun.
Seven stages of music - including the Future Stage (for under 18 performers), the Arts area (showcasing some of the Fair's more colourful entertainment), an Acoustic music stage, and the main East Stage.
Strawberry Essence - a new feature from 2008 aimed at making the site an altogether nicer, happier, more colourful place through static and more imaginative décor.
And for a more unusual shopping experience there are plenty of stalls selling items you just won't find in the Grand Arcade!
The fair is entirely run by the community for the community through a volunteer committee, which starts working for the next years fair a matter of weeks after the finish of the last. These people devote over ten thousand hours of their time to make the event happen and are truely devoted to offering the people of Cambridge something that is on offer nowhere else in the country.
The fair encourages artists and performers from the region and as well as the fair itself, helps to organises hundreds of events in the venues of the city of Cambridge through out the year. The fair has a long tradition of giving people from the area to get on the stage and move them forward with their futures.
